Get Credit Report
The process of credit repair starts with knowing what is in your credit report. You will need a copy of your credit report from each of the
three main credit bureaus. There are hundreds if not thousands of companies offering credit reports, but the data comes from the three main
bureaus. It is your choice whom you deal with.
- In the US the main credit bureaus are Experian, Equifax and Trans Union
- In the UK they are Experian, Equifax and Call Credit.
Why do I need a credit report from each of the credit bureaus?
To engage in effective credit repair, it is important to understand that the credit reporting bureaus are commercial businesses, and that they
are not connected with the government in any way. They exist to make a profit, just like any other business, and they do so by selling
information. Credit information. You need to know what information they hold about you that is affecting your credit score. You need to
identify all the negative information in your credit file.
The bureaus compile credit information on individuals and businesses. This enables them to provide credit reports which show how
borrowers have dealt with debt in the past, and how they are dealing with it now. They get information from businesses who are providing credit
now, or have provided credit it in the past, but they don't necessarily all deal with the same companies.
The only way you can be sure of covering all bases is to have a credit report from each of the three credit bureaus. That way you can be sure
you have at your fingertips, all the credit information on which your credit score is based, and a firm understanding on which entries
in your credit report require attention.
