Fast bad credit repair

If you need to mend your finances and are wondering how you can achieve fast bad credit repair, you have to ask yourself this. Do I want a proper, lasting repair for my finances, or to attempt a bodge job?

It's not really important here why you have bad credit, unless it is down to a complete lack of personal responsibility over money and spending, in which case you are going to have to take on board the necessary financial disciplines to improve matters.

If you can't borrow money, or you can only get it at expensive rates of interest, then you really are going to have to spend time and money at repairing the damage to your financial reputation. This is inescapable. If you attempt to fast track the procedure you may land up making your bad credit worse, but if you stick to the proper way of do things, then fast bad credit repair will be achieved - relatively speaking. Just don't expect it to happen overnight!

Using the information in these web pages you could expect to see an improvement in your credit report within a month, but you do have to keep working at it consistently.

Look at it this way. Say someone owed a lot of money on credit cards and personal loans. They missed payments -  more than once, they had collection agencies chasing them, perhaps they were taken to court for non payment. Then they came into some money. Perhaps they had a lottery win, a successful day at the races, or inherited some cash. They paid off all their outstanding debts.

Now you might consider that as their debts had been cleared, that they would then have a good credit score, a positive credit report. But that would not be the case. Why? Because their credit history would show that they had not kept to past credit agreements, and that there was little evidence, that they knew how to manage their credit agreements properly, so that they could pay what was due, and on time.

So, they would have to demonstrate, over a period of time, that they could consistently make loan and bill repayments on time. As loan and bill repayments are, more often than not, payable monthly, you can see that quite a few months of prompt payments are going to have to be made, before an improving payment track record becomes apparent.

The best approach for fast bad credit repair, is to improve your financial habits:

  • Pay all your loans and bills on time - every month, or due date.

  • Reduce the balances on your borrowings as much as possible, to avoid excessive credit

  • Have different types of credit as this is a factor in determining your credit score. Lenders prefer to see an ability to manage a range of credit types..  Having credit cards as well as, say, a mortgage or auto loan, and making regular payments on them, is much better than only having one class of credit.

  • Do not take out additional borrowing unless it is a consolidation loan covering all your existing borrowings.

  • Cut back on spending (overspending?). If you can't afford it with cash - don't buy it. Buy what you need, not want.

  • Keep adequate financial records, and keep them up-to-date. If you don't know what is going on in your life financially, you are asking for trouble. Job change, marriage, divorce, children, bereavement for example, can all disrupt your finances, and you need to be prepared for the unexpected. Keep a file containing all your financial records in one place, and review it periodically.

  • Check your credit reports for incorrect entries that could be removed

The sooner you start, and continue with, a disciplined approach to your finances, the sooner your credit will be repaired, and your credit score improve, bringing with it a lot more options in the financial marketplace.
